Psoas release for heart opening
Limited Capacity seats available

Our bodies are a dumping ground for tension and stress. When we experience stress, tension, anxiety, or trauma, the body immediately goes into the ‘fight or flight’ response. The Psoas muscle (hip flexor) is directly linked to this primal instinct to protect. Under stress the Psoas contracts, becoming tight and short. Add to it the common movements of everyday life and various forms of exercise (cycling, running, hiking), the hip flexors are commonly the tightest muscle group in the body. This class systematically opens the group of hip flexor muscles, as well as muscles of the side body, allowing for greater ease in back bending, and energetic heart opening. Create freedom in the spine and calm in the mind. Release the hips and open your heart!

Yoga for the Three Bodies
Limited Capacity seats available

The Sivananda sequence of asanas is practiced on three levels.  On the physical level the practice sequence warms, works, and stretches each muscle of the body with great "side benefits" of releasing tension, toning and strengthening the body.

But the main emphasis is on moving prana through the body. The sequence of asanas moves energy from chakra to chakra, from the lowest to the highest energy centers. We will discuss why the body must be relaxed for the prana to flow. Also we will look at how the chakras and the nadis are stimulated and cleansed during the sequence. We will use bija mantras to demonstrate this flow of energy.

Finally, we will look at the casual or seed body and see how each asana is a seat of stillness or meditation, looking within from different angles, with the goal of self-realization
