Yoga Service Providers utilize the intellectual, emotional and pedagogical resources of modern yoga methods, lineages, and communities to provide services to vulnerable populations. To uphold the principle of "do no harm", it is prudent to: Pause to reflect on the idea that each yoga method and community carries both value, but also, potentially, a history of abuse. Research the literature on the method to find and understand that history. Investigate whether the harm has been acknowledged and addressed. Show how you will embody the virtues and not bypass the wounds of the community. Model transparent power sharing and engaged ethics for future practitioners. The PRISM strategy is intended to foster transparency and care in spiritual communities. It is meant to prevent retraumatization, obviate the stress of disillusionment, and to help Yoga Service Providers avoid the psychological, institutional, and spiritual drag that accrues when abuse histories are hidden, while reducing the material and emotional labour of backtracking and mending necessitated when hidden histories explode.
