Human activity is rapidly changing the Earth’s climate, with major implications for all life on Earth. It’s easy to be confused, uncertain about what to do, or overwhelmed by the magnitude of the issue. What does Yoga, with its roots back in the time before industrialized civilization, have to say about our situation? Quite a bit, as it turns out.  From the lessons of Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield about the imperative of action and the folly of trying to turn away from our dharma and the greatest challenges that face us, to the 8 limbs of Yoga found in the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali that include the ethical principles of the yamas and niyamas, Yoga, in its richness of physical and mental practices, has a great deal to offer us as we face this great challenge of our time – Climate Change. Through asana, pranayama, and meditation, we’ll experience our connection to the causes of climate change, and learn how our yoga practice can help us be a powerful force to bring Earth’s climate back into balance.
